Agricultural buildings in which animals are kept pose specific demands on electrical equipment in terms of the effects of moisture, dust and aggressive chemical vapours such as ammonia. Further, the presence of flammable substances can increase the risk of fire. This is why Hensel developed the Mi System Farming, a range of highly robust polycarbonate enclosures made from a material that is particularly suited to use in environments with a high ammonia content, such as farming and animal husbandry.
The new enclosures are insulated and resistant to ammonia in the ambient air, which occurs in high concentrations predominantly in stables. The enclosures are also dust- and jet water proof and thus satisfy the requirements of degree of protection IP 65. The high quality of the enclosures guarantees a long service life in the harshest of environmental conditions. The Mi System Farming sets a high standard in terms of fire protection, confirmed via the glow-wire test at 960°C in accordance with IEC 60 695-2-11. To provide the highest level of safety, the enclosures are flame-resistant and self-extinguishing. The material contains no silicon or halogens.
